Abstract

Botanical gardens are scientific, educational, and cultural institutions housing living plant collections related to the study of plant diversity and richness, and promoting botanical knowledge. They occupy a special place among scientific and educational botanical institutions. Their main task is the conservation of biological diversity and the search for promising useful plants, along with their comprehensive study. A key aspect of botanical garden activities is plant acclimatization aimed at enriching cultivated and cultural flora with new valuable species. The Tashkent Botanical Garden was founded in 1950 and named after its founder, Academician F.N. Rusanov of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR. In 1968, the garden received the status of an institute. Currently, the botanical garden operates jointly with the Institute of Botany of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The total area of the garden is 65.4 hectares.
